Laduree is the oldest pastry and chocolate shop in Paris, France, founded in 1862. During the French Commune of 1871, the bakery was burnt to the ground. But since it was rebuilt it has become a land mark in Paris tradition. At least 15,000 or more are sold and shipped each day.

Laduree is my one and only shop in Paris for the infamous French Macaroon. Laduree creates the products that have made it reputation: macaroons, sweets, pastries and other desserts world-wide famous! Their chocolate creations and macaroons have inspired clothing designers to create whimsical clothing, accessories and even sneaker covered designs with their French macaroons.

When I am in Paris, I visit the shop located on the magnificent Champs Elysees to get my "macaroon fix!". One writer compared Laduree macaroons to the Louis Vuitton of French Macaroons. I say NO WAY, they are the Valentino of those the little chocolate and fruit filled delights - often imitated but never duplicated! Even I cannot duplicate these luscious creation. You have not lived until you bite into of Laduree French Macaroon! I bought a dozen on my last trip, raspberry or Red Fruit as the French would say is my favorite! I ate six as I continued shopping along the Champs Elysees and finished the rest at the Royal Gardens at the Palace of Versailles. If Josephine had experience a Laduree French macaroons, she might have said, "let them macaroons!"
What is a Ladure e macaroon? They are little double-decker cookies, that look like colorful mini hamburgers, filled with luscious fruits, creams and chocolates! The next time you visit Paris, please stop by Laduree and experience for yourself, the decadence of the Laduree French Macaroon! Or stay for lunch or dinner and dine in esquite style and luxury. Their shopping bags are worth saving, I still have my little elegant shopping bag and card from my first trip in 2005 in my French collection of souvenirs.

Stay tuned for more of my chocolate adventures in Paris and Beyond!
