Donna Bell’s Bake Shop: A Recipe for Success

Category: Pastry & Baking

Three friends keep a memory alive. Recipes and stories of family, friends and food.

In 2011, three friends launched Donna Bell’s Bake Shop to honor a very special woman. Donna Bell was the loving, dedicated and culinarily talented mother of international television star Pauley Perrette. Donna Bell passed away from breast cancer in 2003 and Pauley, her friends and family have dedicated themselves to keeping her memory alive. Along with her friends and business partners Darren Greenblatt (the entrepreneur, marketer and style maven) and Matthew Sandusky (the baker, pastry chef and kitchen leader) the trio have succeeded in serving Donna Bell’s classic, southern treats to throngs of hungry residents and tourists at their midtown Manhattan bakery. Matthew converted Donna Bell’s home recipes for commercial use, and now has scaled those recipes down for home use in the new Donna Bell’s Bake Shop cookbook (Simon & Schuster). Now everyone can experience the touching story of family, friends and food while they treat themselves to some Donna Bell’s treats. Thanks to Pauley, Matthew, and Darren for sharing two of Donna Bell’s most popular recipes with us.
